ABOUT

For those who do not understand Afrikaans let me explain the background and purpose of my blog:

Kakstraat dotkom alias Shitstreet dotcom may not sound proper but I assure you, like it or not, that everyone will live on that street at least once, if not several times during a lifespan. It is a metaphorical place where you find yourself in when everything has gone wrong in your life. Mostly, we land up in Shitstreet without even trying. It is all part of the sinewave pattern of life: ups & downs. If it was not for Shitstreet we can never appreciate “BlissStreet”, the qualifying opposite. If you can make peace with this simple philosophy, you may just survive life!

Perhaps better explained by Richard Bach:

“There is no such thing as a problem without a gift for you in it’s hand. You seek life’s problems because you need their gifts.” Richard Bach

My name is Jan Davey also known as Jannie Aapstreke (Johnny Monkey business) I am a 73 year old veteran of life and have experienced and done many wonderful things while around. Some of which have passed the censor test, you will find on this blog. I have a simple three point strategy which determine the way I approach even the most complex of life’s problems:

Commonsense, Dignity & Values

That does not make me a goodie-goodie because I can be full of mischief given the slightest opportunity.

Purpose: I write because, somehow I feel compelled. I write about anything that comes to mind. I write, mostly to put my own train of thought into a media to which I can later return and read what was on my mind then; and if I had a change of mind. Therefore, the opinions are my own…Life according to Jan Davey. Because I would like to believe that I pursue strict commonsensical though, my point of view will seldom synchronize with that of more liberal minds when I write about politics & religion. If anyone finds that offensive here is the antidote as suggested by J. Norman Collie:

“In free countries every man is entitled to his opinions and every other man is entitled not to listen”

I will be complimented if any reader responds, even though it will be censored if it may incite WW3.
